Selfish Altruism
In an honors challenge centered on contributing to the Gross National Happiness (GNH) through the application of personal values, my chosen focus is on ‘Selfish Altruism.’ This concept revolves around the idea that by helping others, we can also elevate our own well-being, thereby contributing to GNH.
This project holds special significance for me as it aligns with my life’s mission of making a positive impact on the world. It also facilitated personal growth, enhancing my adaptability and flexibility in the face of obstacles. The document encapsulates the concluding presentation delivered to the program organizers.
Challenge
While my initial plan centered around finding a volunteering program to create an impact from within, I encountered a challenge: a perceived negative demand for international volunteers.
After extensive discussions, I stepped forward to spearhead a program aimed at assisting internationals in finding a charity that aligns with their interests. This initiative aims to streamline the process, encouraging the idea of volunteering even in the face of potential challenges.
